One thing that scared me was moving halfway across the country and jumping head first into the corporate world in the summer of 2021. I knew nothing about my new state, and very little on how to operate successfully in my new business environment. As I look back, I realized my initial fears were unfounded as I have now found success in my role and love where I live! I would make the same decision over again 100% of the time. Never be afraid to try new things and put in your best!

I'm always scared to quit my job and switch to a different role. For most part, it's always the best decision :)

I joined Toastmasters through my previous employer and I was selected to go first in the Introduction speech. I was so scared but kind of made a joke of it by giving a mixture of true and false items about myself. When I concluded my speech with the statement "What I've told you today has been a mixture of fact and fiction. What was fact? What was fiction? You decide..." I had the entire group, most of whom had known me for years, second guessing just how well they knew me.

Leaving the comfort of my career in secondary education as a teacher and diving into an entirely new career was a terrifying leap. The thought of abandoning the familiar routine and stepping into the unknown filled me with anxiety. But, as I took the plunge, I discovered personal growth, adaptability, and newfound strengths I never knew I possessed. Not to mention, the exposure to Smartsheet! It turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made, leading me to a more fulfilling and exciting path in life, reminding me that sometimes the most frightening steps can be the most transformative and rewarding.

One thing that scared me was knowing my worth at work and leaving when it was no longer recognized. But in the spring of 2019, when I was working in a contentious situation, it was great to find enough worth in myself to leave and now I am working in a fantastic place that shows me they understand my worth, and I love what I am doing. I get to make a difference in other people's lives every single day.

过山车!我姐姐带我第一次国防信息ey vacation as an adult (I went with my parents before she was born). She talked me into every rollercoaster ride, and I couldn't get enough. Then we decided we would grow up and head over to Universal. Those were even more fun. And a few years later....Dear Jesus, she talked me into Velocicoaster! Apparently, I will go to the ends of the earth and off the edge with her. Now, we only ride slow rides that are indoors when we need to cool off. Still won't ride the wooden ones, though.

A scary moment for me was while conducting a rock rescue training on how to rappell down an overhang, my seat harness started to break. At this point I was upside down of course with the ground about 100 feet below. Realizing I had to act quickly, I scrambled back up over the overhang as fast as I could until I was back above the overhang and no longer upside down.
As I was reflecting on the best way to salvage the situation and not completely lose face as the team leader, I realized this was an excellent opportunity to show my trainees how to respond to a situation when the rescuer was now in a position of being the rescuee. I showed them how to use a loop of webbing to construct a very basic climbing harness and then climbed upward and safely off the rock face.
All that before lunch! We all spent the remainder of the weekend safely practicing rescue situations with no more unexpected scary moments. At the end of the weekend, every trainee had successfully qualified for the team.

I have never been a big fan of Roller Coasters. Even now I am still not willing to ride some of the larger coasters, but there are a few milder coasters that I have been willing to try. One of these is "The Mummy" at Universal Orlando. It is an indoor coaster and I think I jumped out of the queue about 3 times before I attempted it. Now it is my go to coaster that I want to ride each time my family and I visit the park. (For those that know UO, Hollywood Rip - Ride -Rocket is way out of my league).

Staring down the mountain of my first black diamond run was terrifying! I wanted to get back on the lift and ride it down. I stood there for quite some time, raising my anxiety. I made it down with a few tumbles. Now, the best recipe for tackling a black diamond run is liquid courage + a little more liquid courage + don't look down = success!

The build up and anxiety of going on an upside down roller coaster for the first time. After I went on this wild ride I couldn't go back to the non-upside down roller coaster/rides. I think this sparked the development of an adrenaline seeker that I am today. Next on the list is bungee jumping... which I'm still a bit scared of doing.

Branching out of my comfort zone. I find it difficult to go into a group where I know nothing about the people in the group. I don't want to feel like an outsider and I don't want to look stupid either. I am trying to get better at approaching groups, but it is still scary.

I was always terribly afraid of spiders but I LOVE to go fishing. And not just any fishing- I have to go hiking in the woods and walk thru bushes to get to the best spots in the river. That means I will come across a spider eventually. And freak out, and scream, and run around like a chicken with its head cut off.
One day I went into my garage for something and when I turned to go back in the house a huge spider was blocking me from getting inside. It took about a hour but I finally mustered up the strength to throw a box at it that thing JUMPED ON ME!!!!
I had to crush it with my bare hand. After my hysteria of realizing what I had just done, I went and washed my hands but then just like that- I was no longer afraid of spiders.
