Our company uses Smartsheet a little differently than most but I am finding it would be very helpful if I could add formula calculations directly to the reports I pull. Currently I have to add the formulas to the sheets themselves, hide those columns and continue dragging formulas down as we add rows. Hundreds of sheets... this is very time consuming. It would be great if when I run a report for, let's say, 3 of those projects, I could add the formula that is specific to that price point on those projects.
Our solution was to use a category column already existing in the worksheet and make the bottom columns listed as z.math and post the information off to the side and hide it. This allows us to sort and filter, and we don't have to update the columns with the formulas ever. It's not optimal as you can't see the information on the worksheet, but it works well enough.
I saw that this was requested back in 2015. There really is still no movement? As much as I love Smartsheet for tracking tasks, I am continually reminded of the shortcomings.
yes, as a team of 2 supporting our entire organization I need a way to quickly generate metrics/kpi's and I'd really like to run a report to consolidate information and then calculate with formulas in the report.
Ok, how about using a helper column with a 0 or 1 being input by your automation, and then use this as the trigger. So set the default on the column to 0, and if an attachment is there, leave it at 0.
