Date formatting

  • Hi there,

is there any news on this? I think it is really essential to have a custom date formatting per sheet, because different projects might use different time codes.

    Best,

    Franz

  • Definitely need to format dates not only per sheet, but even by column. Some columns are full dates (mm/dd/yyyy, m/d/yy, yyyy/m/d, etc.) while other columns are intended to just be at the month level (mmm-yyyy, m-yyyy, etc.)

是的,请添加一个DDMMMYY fo投票日期rmat such as 14Feb19. This is the standard we use. I can add this in to my fields currently only if I change them to a text field, but then I cannot sort by due date. It only takes into consideration the day and does not sort correctly. Seems like over two years to develop a way to customize the date is a LONG TIME for something very needed and not that complicated.

What is the ETA on getting something like this please?

  • I'd like to add a vote for selecting from date options. At the very least allowing for MMM ANYWHERE in a date is so important for an international company. A sheet is useless if we can't use it across borders.

  • Hi,

My client and team would also be greatly benefitted by the ability to show day of the week on smartsheets, e.g. Monday 4 March instead of 4.3.19.

    Please make this happen!

    Lucy

  • Why is it that we are now in 2019, and your reply to the request to have the ability to format the date how we need it to look where you replied in 2015, has still gone unanswered and we have no way of formatting the date how we need it to look. As a brand new user as of today where I literally just signed up, not having the ability to do this in a program that appears to be a pretty great concent, seems a bit baffling that they haven't already done this. When will this feature be added?

  • Hi all,

    Thank you for your patience.

Barring any major issues, we will be releasing the ability to format date columns with 10 new non-ambiguous formats in June.

    Best,

    Kara

  • That's fantastic news!

I keep my fingers crossed, that nothing stops this.

  • amazing in the most negative manner, that this is not activated yet- when working with global communities, as most of us do, we MUST have the date format capability in text eg 01 Jun 2019. Having the option to just define it English US or Europe in ONLY date/numbers format DDMMYY or viceversa, IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH

it is about time that this issue be resolved

  • Is there anything we'll need to do to get this feature? Waiting patiently.

  • Hi all,

大约30分钟前,日期格式was released (you may need to refresh your browser).

The community announcement and link to the new help page will be posted shortly.

You will now be able to:

    • Adjust dates to your desired format at the cell or column level

    • Update date formatting in grid view and Gantt view

    • Display dates with the new formatting on reports and dashboard

    Have a wonderful day!

  • I'm glad to hear there are other ways to format the date column.

However, I do not see an option to simply have the numerical mm/dd/yyyy without the Day short-handed before it. Is there something I am missing?

Ok, how about using a helper column with a 0 or 1 being input by your automation, and then use this as the trigger. So set the default on the column to 0, and if an attachment is there, leave it at 0. Then if an attachment is not there workflow will set it to 1, and that would trigger the automated workflow to run.<\/p>"}]}},"status":{"statusID":3,"name":"Accepted","state":"closed","recordType":"discussion","recordSubType":"question"},"bookmarked":false,"unread":false,"category":{"categoryID":321,"name":"Smartsheet Basics","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/categories\/smartsheet-basics%2B","allowedDiscussionTypes":[]},"reactions":[{"tagID":3,"urlcode":"Promote","name":"Promote","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":5,"count":0},{"tagID":5,"urlcode":"Insightful","name":"Insightful","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":1,"count":0},{"tagID":11,"urlcode":"Up","name":"Vote Up","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":1,"count":0},{"tagID":13,"urlcode":"Awesome","name":"Awesome","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":1,"count":0}],"tags":[{"tagID":334,"urlcode":"automations","name":"Automations"}]},{"discussionID":108318,"type":"question","name":"Count to show the High Priority Items","excerpt":"I would like to add a formula that counts the number of 1 - High, 2 - Med, 3 - Low in each row.","snippet":"I would like to add a formula that counts the number of 1 - High, 2 - Med, 3 - Low in each row.","categoryID":322,"dateInserted":"2023-07-31T18:51:49+00:00","dateUpdated":null,"dateLastComment":"2023-07-31T19:48:33+00:00","insertUserID":121230,"insertUser":{"userID":121230,"name":"Kris Peeters","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/profile\/Kris%20Peeters","photoUrl":"https:\/\/aws.smartsheet.com\/storageProxy\/image\/images\/u!1!zzjX8w2dwDY!5FVWucGjaaQ!-sgJ3Uz0EeO","dateLastActive":"2023-07-31T19:46:31+00:00","banned":0,"punished":0,"private":false,"label":"✭✭✭✭"},"updateUserID":null,"lastUserID":121230,"lastUser":{"userID":121230,"name":"Kris Peeters","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/profile\/Kris%20Peeters","photoUrl":"https:\/\/aws.smartsheet.com\/storageProxy\/image\/images\/u!1!zzjX8w2dwDY!5FVWucGjaaQ!-sgJ3Uz0EeO","dateLastActive":"2023-07-31T19:46:31+00:00","banned":0,"punished":0,"private":false,"label":"✭✭✭✭"},"pinned":false,"pinLocation":null,"closed":false,"sink":false,"countComments":4,"countViews":30,"score":null,"hot":3381664822,"url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/discussion\/108318\/count-to-show-the-high-priority-items","canonicalUrl":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/discussion\/108318\/count-to-show-the-high-priority-items","format":"Rich","lastPost":{"discussionID":108318,"commentID":388103,"name":"Re: Count to show the High Priority Items","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/discussion\/comment\/388103#Comment_388103","dateInserted":"2023-07-31T19:48:33+00:00","insertUserID":121230,"insertUser":{"userID":121230,"name":"Kris Peeters","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/profile\/Kris%20Peeters","photoUrl":"https:\/\/aws.smartsheet.com\/storageProxy\/image\/images\/u!1!zzjX8w2dwDY!5FVWucGjaaQ!-sgJ3Uz0EeO","dateLastActive":"2023-07-31T19:46:31+00:00","banned":0,"punished":0,"private":false,"label":"✭✭✭✭"}},"breadcrumbs":[{"name":"Home","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/"},{"name":"Get Help","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/categories\/get-help"},{"name":"Formulas and Functions","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/categories\/formulas-and-functions"}],"groupID":null,"statusID":3,"image":{"url":"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6031209\/uploads\/382QSC10NTUW\/count-jpg.jpg","urlSrcSet":{"10":"","300":"","800":"","1200":"","1600":""},"alt":"count.JPG"},"attributes":{"question":{"status":"accepted","dateAccepted":"2023-07-31T19:48:14+00:00","dateAnswered":"2023-07-31T19:18:51+00:00","acceptedAnswers":[{"commentID":388092,"body":"

In that case you would use the same syntax but you would reference the column in the sheet using the appropriate column name. <\/p>
