A few questions..
- When in Dynamic View and data is entered through a form, the filters I had set up get greyed out and disappear (i.e. I am filtering by JOB# and JOB NAME). This is not the case in my normal sheet however. The same data from the form entry is inputted into each sheet/view but those two filters become unavailable in Dynamic View. Why? How do I fix this?
- In this same sheet, I have a "Created by" System-generated column that is set up to generate the email of the individual who submits a form. However, every time a person submits a form the column generates "[email protected]. It does not generate the actual email of the person submitting the form. Why is this and how do I fix this?
- People can still edit line items based on their form entries in Dynamic View even after they click a button that is supposed to lock the row. The row gets locked in the normal sheet but not in the Dynamic View. Why?
- How can I set it up so that people can only edit line items based on their form entries in Dynamic View only if the admin unlocks the row for them? And they are only able to edit existing line items and unable to add new entries?
- Can I set it up so that when a form is submitted it populates under a specific line item in the sheet? (Kind of like group them based on common values across rows).
I have explored all the settings in Smartsheet and Dynamic View. If I am missing something or something is not possible please let me know.
Thanks!

Hi Sidonia,
I'll do my best to answer each of your questions, numbered below. If I miss something or misunderstood what you're asking, please let me know!
1 . Greyed out filters:
I'm not quire sure what you mean by this. Would you be able to provide a screen capture of what you're seeing?
2 . System Column & "Form User":
This actually depends on the settings you have on the form, not the sheet or view. If you allow the form to be filled out by anyone, then the sheet can't recognize the user, because it's jut a generic user. In order to have a specific email address, you need to restrict your form to only be filled out by aregistered Smartsheet user.
Go to Edit your form. Then, under the tab "Form Options", scroll to the bottom and select a different "Accessible By" option. (Click here for more information on Forms).
3 . Editable Dynamic View fields:
To lock rows in Dynamic view after the initial entry, you will want to adjust your Dynamic View settings in the "Details Panel" and set up different "Field Logic Rules" to make different sections Read Only:
4 .Creating New Rows:
You can limit the ability to create a new row on the first page of your settings, under "General". At the very bottom there's a header that says "New Item Submission" and you can choose whether or not to allow this.
In regards to locking all of the fields, in the Details Panel Layout you can set fields to be read-only, no matter what has been filled in.
5 . Organizing Form Submissions
In the source sheet, form submissions will only come in either at the top or the bottom of the sheet (depending on what you have set up). You would need to use theSortfunction in the sheet to re-order the submissions how you want. (Click here for more information on Sorting).

As a final note, based on the account associated with your email address, you are able to book Pro Desk sessions which are 1 on 1 coaching via screen share for 30 minutes with a Smartsheet expert. You can book specific sessions just for Premium Apps, if you want to talk to someone about your set up. See here:https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2478411-get-coaching-pro-desk-info
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
Cheers,

This is what I was referring to with my filters question:
-
Also, the Date structure in Dynamic View is Year/Month/Day. How do I change that?

为你的第一个问题,看起来这些filters were set up and then your Settings for the view were changed - is that possible? I get the same error message if I remove those fields (in your case the JOB NAME and JOB # fields) from theVisible Fieldsoption in the View settings. (This is under the视图显示tab). Filters can only be based off of the content that is displayed in the view.
To test this, click on the filter. In the pop-up window for the filter, you should have more details for what the error is (the red exclamation mark).
In regards to dates, currently there's no way to adjust the date format within the View (you can change how the date looks in the source sheet instead, see here:https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2479481).
Dynamic View uses our Smartsheet API so the dates will be written in Year/Month/Day. (OurAPI Documents can be found here, but they're not really relevant other than explaining how dates are displayed.)
Hope this helps!
Genevieve

There currently isn't a way to overlay an Outlook Calendar on top of a Smartsheet Calendar; you can do the reverse, publish dates from Smartsheet into Outlook.<\/a><\/p>
