Why do I get #Invalid Data Type error message because a cell is blank
HI,
I have a column that uses the formula =WORKDAY([HOP Submit F/C]@row, 5) to give a date by which approval needs to be given for documents that have been submitted.
The column [HOP Submit F/C] is a date column which itself uses a formula '=[????? Eqpt Order ACK]@row + 145' to get its own date (the question marks represent a company name).
My problem is that while the [HOP Submit F/C] column does not contain a date the workday formula returns the #Invalid Data Type error message. As soon as a date appears in the column whether as a result of its own formula or manually entered the workday formula correctly returns a date.
On the large sheet I am using lots of the [HOP Submit F/C] cells will be blank simply because we haven't reached certain points on a timeline. How do I stop this error message appearing .
Thanks
Steve

Try an IFERROR like so...
=IFERROR(WORKDAY([HOP Submit F/C]@row, 5), "")
