Update dropdown using Data Shuttle without Excel?

Is there a way to pull the contents for a dropdown update from another Smartsheet? We would rather not use Excel files for this process.

    YES!! I just did a solution for exactly this!

    Set up

    Sheet 1: List of Projects (Topline sheet)

    Sheet 2: Team members deployment/staffing that has a dropdown that needs to match the Active projects on Sheet 1.


    Solution - 2 Data Shuttle workflows. One Offload to Smartsheet Attachment. One Upload from Smartsheet attachment.

    I set up a Data Shuttle Offload workflow that exports all of Sheet 1/Topline sheet to a csv Smartsheet attachment. I have it drop the attachment on my Project & Demployment Sheet. I scheduled this to run once a day.

    Then I have an Uploader workflow on the project sheet that runs on attachment and I selected the

    And I only have the dropdown column mapped.


    Something to note - the dropdown will update but it will be in the exact order that is exported so if keeping things in alphabetical order is important for your team you may need to confirm its sorted as you want it to be.

    Thanks for your reply Kelly. I just tried this and I'm getting a message that says my Offloaded file isn't the right format. I tried both CSV and Excel formats and it's exporting but the file but it's not an Excel file. Any idea?

No, it currently isn't possible to share the Data Shuttle workflow configuration with another account. The set-up for that workflow is associated with one account. (Please let our Product team know of your feature request by filling in this form, here!)<\/a><\/p>

That said, many team members will be able to trigger<\/em> that workflow, depending on what that trigger is. For example, if the workflow is based on an attachment, any user can upload the attachment for the workflow. Does that make sense?<\/p>

If you are looking to transfer workflows because a user has left the organization, you could potentially update the Primary email address associated with the account that owns the configurations. This will allow you to gain access to the Data Shuttle workflows from the new email. Keep in mind this would need to be an email that does not currently have a Smartsheet account. See: Admin Center: Add, Edit, and Delete Individual Users with User Management<\/a><\/p>

I figured out a workaround -- if the date is entered in long form in a text column instead of a date column, it populates as entered. <\/p>

    I am trying to generate certificates of completion with document builder and include the date of conferral. No matter how I enter the date into a date field (my preference is "Friday, January 1, 2021" as the format), it always enters in the 1/1/21 format. Any ideas for getting document builder to fill it correctly?
