Lock column width
I was wondering if there was a way to lock the column width of a sheet. Our sheet has nearly 100 people that need to edit, but I'd like to prevent everyone from adjusting the column widths.

Genevieve P. Employee AdminThere currently isn't a way to prevent user shared with Editor permissions or higher from adjusting withwidthof a column. Editors won't be able to change the column properties, but they will still be able to stretch out the column or make it thin. Please let the Product team know of your use-case and request byfilling in this form, here!

Suzanne Raphael ✭✭✭This is a major pain. I have a primary column that is frozen—specifically because I need to see ALL OF IT regardless of the window size. When I have the window large, I size it as desired. But when I narrow the window, it compresses, and when I widen the window again, it stays compressed. I spend a not-insignificant percentage of time manually resizing that column, over & over again. If I could double-click on the column header to make it fit to content, that would be fine, but that doesn't work either. Seriously, this is super irritating.

There is no direct way to do this. Adding a checkbox helper column with something similar to this and then formatting based on the checkbox is the simplest way. You can even hide the extra column, as there is no reason for it to be visible.<\/p>
