There should be an option to set a FROM display name for email from smartsheet automation.
Now, these come from "owner via smartsheet" and are confusing, often unrelated to the purpose, not relevant to the form intake workflow, and are a security concern.
When can this be addressed?
thanks
I agree. I think the ability to customize what displays in the FROM name would make Smartsheet alerts/update requests, etc. more impactful. It would also allow admins to attribute these to a group rather than an individual (ex: PMO vs. Specific Project Manager Name).
Instead of owner name, is it possible to give the Generic Name (Project Name Like: "Retail Workflow")?.
Kindly looking for above solution since Management is advise to use Project name instead of Owner Name.
My Scenario is different. I am handling multiple project in the Smartsheet with respective Workspace.
I am only authorize to that Project or Workspace with 2 admin ID (syed[email protected]and[email protected]).请注意that currently the workspace is not shared.
Looking solution for below email notification.
Syed Abdul Majid via Smartsheet <[email protected]> or Ibrahim Khaleel via Smartsheet <[email protected]>
All user's are getting email as above. Looking for solution instead of Owner or Admin name is it possible to change Generic Name like Project Name or Meaningful Workspace Name.
Looking for smart solution.
Appreciate your support.
Thanks and best regards.
Hey there!
I think it would be a SUPREME idea to allow an owner to customize the "reply to" and "From" fields in Smartsheets alert: we have some sheets that would be better served to have the owner's name not visible: to instead have the email listed as From: DIVISION X TEAM.
And the "reply to" email address could be customized as well: I build smartsheets for our team, so I am listed as the owner (and I should be) but I don't need to be involved in day to day use of the sheet; more at an escalation level. So allowing the switch the user's email within the response emails could ensure a smoother chain of communication.
Instead of the owner of the sheet--especially since one "owner" may create many sheets for others--allow the subject of the email to show it comes from a specified user. Do not require this to come from a paid user license.
Does anyone from SmartSheet ever look at these items?
It would be very useful for us to be able to edit/change the "From" email address that shows up when users receive an automated email from one of our sheets.
This is very confusing to our users and often times causes miscommunication.
By having the ability to freely edit the name, it will make our processes that much cleaner and smooth.
It is imperative that Smartsheet provide an option for setting the "From" email address for alerts and update requests.

If I could vote YES for this a million times, I would!
I could not attend Engage this year, but if y'all want to put this out through the EAP, I will gladly test this... everywhere.

Since a 2021 update, Smartsheet now puts the sheet owners full name in every email alert sent out. This drives confusion, and really just doesn’t make sense 90% of the time. Sheet creators aren’t typically responsible for ensuring the alerts get actioned, so it makes no sense having their name listed. Please make the “from” name customizable to either the project name, or just allow the sheet owner to customize this.
Currently, automation Email are sent with "{{Owner}} via Smartsheet" in the From Box. Has there been discussion to allow for this to be customizable? Within our Team, I am the Licensed User, and Owner our processes, with my Teammates having an Unlicensed User account. Because I am the Owner, the Email are sent with "Bruce Case via Smartsheet", even though I am not the one supporting that specific process. Thoughts?
I see the note at the top of the thread from 9/28/22 that updates may be coming in the near future. As of 12/8/2022 are there any updates to the timeline or functionality regarding being able to customize what email address the automated emails show as being from or being able to have the ability to set reply-to address. Thanks
Currently I set up automated workflows for sheets, however I do not want my name to appear in the workflow notification send
Hi,
Can the workflow be on a department's email address? Or possibly on another person's name instead of someone owns? Or possibly even co-own a specific workflow with someone else? That would be great!
Thanks,
Fran
What I did was made a No.Reply email and then transferred ownership to that user. The automations will send out as the owner of the sheet. Hope that helps for now!
