Document Builder to Fillable PDF - symbol fields

Hi everyone

I have my fillable PDF which I created in Adobe Acrobat Pro

I have mapped my smartsheet using the document builder and it all works brilliantly (yippee).........

......but I have used symbols in the Smartsheet to represen the RAG status (Red, Amber (or Yellow in smartsheet terms), Green). Sadly these come across as the words and not as either the colour or the symbol.

Does anyone know how I can turn these back into colours in the fillable PDF? It would also be useful pass through other symbols as well - for example we use the pie symbol for % complete but that comes across as empty, full, quarter, half etc.

Mnay thanks all in anticipation

Sue

    Hi@SueinSpain

I hope you're well and safe!

I'm not sure it's supported, so maybe you could transform them using the methods below.

You can use other symbols by using UNICHAR, CHAR, or Emojis.

    More info:

Great resource that Paul Newcome put together

    Did that work/help?

    I hope that helps!

  • Hi,

Did you ever find a solution for this, because I'm trying to find the same and I'm not sure how the above can work as an alternative.

    Thanks,

    Jen

    Hi Jen,

I've been so busy I haven't tried the suggested solution yet. Not sure it is the answer but Andree is so good it could be.

The idea it to translate the word "Red" into a symbol or special character and that is what then appears on the pdf.

So still on my to do list I'm afraid

    Kindest regards

    Hi All,

Finally got back to looking at this and it doesn't really solve my problem.

In my smartsheet I have a symbol field with values of Red, Yellow, Green etc.

    image.png
    image.png

This is used to indicate the level using it as a RAG status / visual aid.

然而,背后的实际内容字段)the scenes so to speak) is the word "Yellow"

    image.png

So when I pass this to a fillable / writeable PDF using the Generate Documents function

    image.png

It actually passed through the word "Yellow" and not the round yellow dot or anything highlighted at all. see below the pdf document produced

    image.png

IDEALLY I want to somehow either highlight the word or show a symbol that is coloured in the document in the same way it is in the smartsheet as the word just doesn't have the same impact.

    @SueinSpain

Did you test the Emoji option?

  • I've tried the Emojis and it just returned a blank. I've even tried using formatting to get it to work, and is looks like the formatting is either removed, or will work once then that formatting is used for every other instance of generate document.

I tried contacting support and after one call that didn't solve the issue I never heard from them again.

  • I have tried the emoji, UNICHAR, and of course the symbols already available in Smartsheet. I cannot find any way to get anything but a normal letter or number character to display in the PDF. I know the symbols recently updated, so hoping for updates to this as well. Anyone find any other routes?

@Steve_Mitchell<\/a>, thank you! I just filed a ticket. i appreciate your help.<\/p>"}]}},"status":{"statusID":3,"name":"Accepted","state":"closed","recordType":"discussion","recordSubType":"question"},"bookmarked":false,"unread":false,"category":{"categoryID":321,"name":"Smartsheet Basics","url":"https:\/\/community.smartsheet.com\/categories\/smartsheet-basics%2B","allowedDiscussionTypes":[]},"reactions":[{"tagID":3,"urlcode":"Promote","name":"Promote","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":5,"count":0},{"tagID":5,"urlcode":"Insightful","name":"Insightful","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":1,"count":0},{"tagID":11,"urlcode":"Up","name":"Vote Up","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":1,"count":0},{"tagID":13,"urlcode":"Awesome","name":"Awesome","class":"Positive","hasReacted":false,"reactionValue":1,"count":0}],"tags":[{"tagID":207,"urlcode":"Sales","name":"Sales"},{"tagID":281,"urlcode":"Support","name":"Support"},{"tagID":446,"urlcode":"update-requests","name":"Update Requests"}]},{"discussionID":106894,"type":"question","name":"How to Count a value in a drop down \/ multi-selection list?","excerpt":"Hi, I'm wanting to count the total amount time this value \"VAVE\" is being assigned to a drop down column.
