Create dynamic dropdowns with Data Shuttle

You can use the offload and upload capabilities of Data Shuttle to create dynamic dropdowns in Smartsheet sheets and forms.

To use Data Shuttle, you must be aLicensed UserwithOwner, Admin, or Editor permissions on the target sheetand have Data Shuttle Premium Application permissions enabled inUser Management.

Dynamic dropdowns can automatically update a dropdown list in one location when that list has changed in another location.

Use Data Shuttle to upload a list of items to update dropdown selections from a list in the same sheet, a different sheet, or a .csv or .xlsx file.

Data Shuttle connection can be established via the intuitive连接menu on the top navigation bar of the Smartsheet application. Select连接and choose the desired action. This feature significantly enhances Data Shuttle's discoverability within the app, ensuring seamless workflow management.

Create dynamic dropdowns

This process assumes you will offload the list from a Smartsheet location.

  1. Create anoffload workflowin Data Shuttle to output the source list of items that will populate the dropdown menu in a .csv or .xlsx file
  2. Create anupload workflowin Data Shuttle to import the offloaded file. UseUpdate the dropdown choices for the selected columnsworkflow action on the target sheet where you’d like the dropdown options to be updated.

If you set a scheduled cadence for the offload and upload workflows, your workflows will run automatically and keep your dropdown options in sync with your source list.
